Instruction in native language

Part of the instruction may, under the Basic Education Act, § 10, be given in a language other than the aforementioned native language of the pupil, providing it does not compromise the pupil's possibilities to follow teaching. In addition, in a separate class or school, teaching may be given for the most part or in full in some other language than that mentioned in subsection 1.

Through native language teaching the core content of the subject matter to be studied may be clarified and deepened by treating it through phenomena more closely related to the pupil's own experiences.
